The authors bring light from unusual sources onto the topic of computer design. These references are twofold, although somehow surprisingly, convergent. They have their roots on the one side in the philosophical work of Martin Heidegger and his successors, and on the other, in the research of the Chilean biologist, Humberto Maturana.
Roughly following the book, we will review these sources (1 and 2), and their contributions; then sum up the authors view on the status of artificial intelligence (3) and on the directions they consider for design (4). Finally (5), we will draw our own conclusions, applying what has been learned to the domain of object oriented design.
