Open systems application development gets closer; easier

An agreement between factions in the distributed application
development arena [OMG...]

[The OMG] approach uses objects that work together by sending requests
for the services of another object through an entity called an object
request broker.
That's in contrast to other object technology approaches to developing
distributed applications that relied on objects communicating directly
with one another.
