(Santa Barbara), one of the major suppliers of object-oriented
compilers, tools and libraries. He is author of the books
``Object-Oriented Software Construction'', ``Introduction to the
Theory of Programming Languages'' and ``Eiffel: The Language''
(Prentice Hall), editor of the Object-Oriented Series and chairman
of the TOOLS conferences. He recently co-edited with Jean-Marc
Nerson the book "Object-Oriented Applications, an in-depth
examination of seven large object-oriented projects". His latest
three books are "Object Success: A Manager's Guide to Object
Technology", "Reusable Software: the Base Object-Oriented Component
Libraries" and "An Object-Oriented Environment: Principles and
Applications". He has directed the analysis, design and
implementation of several large object-oriented systems and
