BOOKS ON OOA/OOD/OOP
====================
OOP books. I am still not sure which are the simplest, but
Booch is the most frequently recommended. If anyone has read
some could they possibly rank them in terms of simplest /
hardest?
Booch
Object Oriented Design with Applications, Booch,
Benjamin/Cummings 1991, 0-8053-0091-0.
The most widely regarded text about what it means to design
object oriented software. By far the most popular text.
Nothing else like it. A must.
In alphabetical order, by author.
An Introduction to Object-Oriented Programming, Budd,
Addison-Wesley 1991, 0-201-54709-0.
An excellent, and pleasantly unbiased introduction to OOP,
covering a number of languages including C++.
Object Oriented Programming, 19??, Brad J. Cox., ?, ISBN- ?
No critique, only the title.
Object Orientation: Concepts, Languages, Databases, User
Interfaces, Khoshafian & Abnous, John Wiley 1990,
0-471-51801-8.
A survey of the object oriented world, and the best
description of databases and issues of object identity.
Object-Oriented Modelling and Design, James Rumbaugh, et al.
Prentice Hall, Inc. ISBN 0-13-629841-9
A book on OOA/OOD which you might find very readable.
Object Oriented Systems Analysis - Modeling the World in Data.
Sally Shlaer and Stephen J. Mellor. Yourdon Press, ISBN
0-13-629023-X.
It is really easy to follow and uses real world examples - eg
dogs and owners - to introduce OO thinking. There is also a
Systems Design book by the same authors or publishers I am not
sure.
Designing Object-Oriented Software, R. Wirfs-Brock et al,
Prentice Hall, 1990, ISBN 0-13-629825-7
Very good in presenting OO design and analysis.

comp.lang.c++ Frequently Asked Questions list. Anonymous ftp
from sun.soe.clarkson.edu in pub/C++/FAQ.
Several sites have offered to make the C++?? Critique
available by ftp. I would like to thank Indiana University,
University of Western Australia, Brown University and
IRISA/CNRS France for their help, and many other sites who
have done this voluntarily without solicitation. Are the sites
in question also carrying the many serious critiques of
Joyners critique posted in response? Many of the points he
make have no sound foundation in facts. [Peter].
Try books from Timothy Budd (Addison Wesley). He's a good
author and explaines well. Maybe you will read "Little
Smalltalk" for a start. Hope this helps.
