01 Domain of relevance

This book was published in 1992, and is actually edited from a collection of
papers published even earlier (as early as 1989, possibly before). It deals
with the design of a product which has further evolved, including in
directions not considered here (the C++ interface, for example). The pace of
the development is so quick that one could ask whether the information
gathered here is still relevant after two and more years, that have seen
among others the strengthening of C++, the emergence, with the ORB concept, of
concerns about using object-orientation to define system inter-connections
or the adoption of the ODMG-93 standard.

Apart for a point of clarification to be made right away, this question will
be left open until the conclusion.
