This blindness may be individual or contractual
It may be passive or active
The metaphor of the black hole on the map is dangerous because it assumes an external point of view -- one is captive of one's model!
What you ignore is a boundary (interface). What is behind, and how it can affect you, you don't know (safely, statically)
